Business Card & Service Card Maker

Design front-and-back business or service cards in exact millimetres, as vector PDF and 300 DPI PNG.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded — your input is processed on this device and discarded when you close the tab.

Design your business card

Bleed extends the background 3 mm past the trim edge on every side, so trimming never leaves a white sliver. With bleed off, the PDF page is exactly the card size. Text always stays inside a 5 mm safe margin from the trim edge.

Front

Back

Preview text alternative: the front shows your name, job title, business and contact lines; the back shows your business name, tagline and website. If you use a screen reader, the status line below reads the current validation result, and every field above is labelled.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our server or logged. Print at 100% / Actual Size and measure one card with a ruler before ordering a batch.

How to use

  1. Enter your details. Name is the only required field. Add the contact details people will actually use: one phone number or email address is worth more than four lines nobody reads.
  2. Pick a size and template. Standard 85 x 55 mm suits most printers outside North America; US 89 x 51 mm matches the 3.5 x 2 inch card. The template changes colours and alignment only — it never moves text outside the safe margin.
  3. Check both sides. The front carries who you are and how to reach you. The back carries your business name, tagline and website — the part people see when the card sits face-down on a desk.
  4. Download, print at 100%, and measure. Open the PDF, print one card at 100% / Actual Size, and check it with a ruler. “Fit to page” rescales the sheet and breaks the exact millimetre size. If the ruler does not match, do not use that print.

Worked example

Load sample fills a fictional card for Maya Rahman, a freelance graphic designer at the fictional Bright Leaf Studio. The front shows her name at 16 pt, her job title, the studio name, a phone number, an email address, a website and one address line. The back shows the studio name, the tagline “Clear design for small businesses” and the website again, centred under a teal rule. The sample uses the standard 85 x 55 mm size with 3 mm bleed, so the PDF pages measure 91 x 61 mm including bleed, while the trimmed card is exactly 85 x 55 mm. The PNG export of the front is 1004 x 650 pixels at 300 DPI, which is 85 mm and 55 mm at that resolution. Replace every sample line with your own details before downloading: the sample contact details are invented, they belong to nobody, and a card printed with them on it would send your enquiries nowhere.

Limitations

This tool makes type-only cards. It does not accept a logo upload, so it cannot place your existing logo on a card, and it cannot reproduce a brand font you use elsewhere — cards are set in the site's Inter stack with system fallbacks. It does not check that a phone number or email address is real, only that it looks well formed; a typo that still looks valid will print exactly as typed, so read the preview character by character. It does not order printing, choose paper stock, or check a print shop's file requirements: some shops ask for a specific bleed, colour mode or file type, and their specification wins over this page. Colours on screen are not a proof of printed colour — monitors and printers render colour differently, and a dark background card will use noticeably more ink than a light one. The PDF text is selectable vector text in a standard PDF font, which keeps the file small and readable; if a print shop requires embedded brand fonts, export the PNG at 300 DPI instead and ask the shop which file they prefer.

What makes a card work when it leaves your hand

A business card has about three seconds of attention, and most of that goes to two questions: whose card is this, and how do I reach them. That is why the front of this tool puts the name first, at the largest size on the card, and keeps contact lines short and scannable. A card crowded with five phone numbers, three email addresses, a postal address, a list of services and a slogan is a card nobody reads; pick the single best way to reach you and make it unmissable, then add at most one backup. Hierarchy matters more than decoration. If the job title is set larger than the name, the reader remembers a role and forgets the person. If the website is printed in the smallest size on the card, it will not be typed in later. Contrast matters just as much: light grey text on white may look elegant on a bright screen and disappear under office lighting, so this tool keeps body text in dark slate and reserves accent colour for rules and small labels. The back of the card earns its place only when it adds something the front does not. A repeated logo and nothing else wastes half the card. A short line about what you do, a website, or a single memorable detail gives the recipient a reason to keep the card after the meeting ends. Finally, a card is a physical object, not a screen. Paper weight, rounded corners and lamination change how it feels in the hand, and none of those can be previewed here. Print one card first, hand it to someone, and watch what they read first — that test tells you more than any preview on a monitor.

Frequently asked questions

What size should my business card be?

Use 85 x 55 mm for most printers outside North America, and 89 x 51 mm (3.5 x 2 inches) for US printers. The two differ by a few millimetres, which matters to a print shop's cutting template, so ask your printer if you are unsure rather than guessing.

What is bleed, and do I need it?

Bleed is background colour extended 3 mm past the trim edge. Without it, a tiny cutting shift leaves a white hairline at the edge. Keep bleed on for print-shop work; turn it off only if you are printing and cutting cards yourself on plain paper.

Why must I print at 100%?

Because the PDF page is laid out in exact millimetres. “Fit to page” shrinks the sheet to the printer's margins, so every card comes out smaller than designed. Print at 100% / Actual Size and measure one card with a ruler.

Can I add my logo to the card?

Not in this tool. Cards here are type-only by design, which keeps every export free of third-party artwork and licensing questions. If you need a logo on the card, make the logo with the Logo Maker on this site and place both files in a desktop layout tool before printing.

Is the PNG good enough for a print shop?

The front PNG is rendered at 300 DPI at the exact card size, which most shops accept. The PDF is usually the better choice for print because its text stays as selectable vector text rather than pixels. When in doubt, send the PDF and ask the shop.
