How to Optimize Images for Websites
A repeatable image optimisation workflow — size first, then format, then compression, then responsive delivery and lazy loading — with byte sizes measured on real test files, not quoted from other guides.

Image, PDF and Documents collects the file chores that usually send people to upload sites — and keeps every byte on your own device instead. The Image Optimizer resizes, crops, compresses and converts batches of up to twenty images, showing before-and-after dimensions and file sizes so you can see exactly what a quality setting costs or saves, then downloads the results as a ZIP. The PDF Toolkit merges, splits by range, extracts, rotates and reorders pages with drag-and-drop thumbnails; it is honest about its limits, too — no compression or OCR in this version. The Text and Document Comparison tool diffs two documents at line, word or character level, with side-by-side and inline views and an exportable report. Because all processing happens in your browser, these tools are safe for contracts, invoices, ID scans and drafts that should never sit on a stranger's server — and they work at the speed of your machine, not a queue.
PDF work lives on its own hub. The PDF Tools hub groups the whole PDF suite by job — Convert, Organize, Optimize, Edit & Sign, Security — with a filter for the full set.
Compress, resize, crop and convert up to 20 images at once, in your browser, with before-and-after sizes.
LiveMerge PDFs, extract or delete pages, rotate and reorder them — processed locally, never uploaded.
LiveDiff two documents side by side or inline, with change navigation, summary counts and an exportable HTML report.
LiveAdd "Page 2 of 3"-style numbers to a PDF in your browser, with six positions and a custom start count.
LiveAdd a translucent text watermark to a PDF in your browser — opacity, angle, size and tiled layout controls.
LiveDiff two PDFs page by page at word level: counts of added, removed and unchanged words, similarity scores and highlighted changes.
LiveCompress a PDF in your browser: keep text with a lossless re-save, or go smallest with page images. Real byte counts shown.
LiveCrop PDF pages by setting margins in points or percent, in your browser. Honest note: a crop hides content, it does not delete it.
LiveOverlay text, rectangles, lines and images onto any page of a PDF, placed by clicking a live preview — processed in your browser.
LiveExtract pages like 3,1 or 1-3,5 from a PDF into one new file, in the order listed, processed in your browser.
LiveFill genuine AcroForm fields — text, checkboxes, dropdowns, radio groups and lists — with optional flattening, in your browser.
LivePaste an HTML snippet and download an A4 PDF of its rendered appearance. Scripts are stripped first; everything runs in your browser.
LiveCombine up to 10 PNG, JPEG or WebP images into a single PDF with fit, A4 or Letter pages — built entirely in your browser.
LiveCombine up to 10 PDFs into a single document, in list order, entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
LiveMake scanned PDFs searchable: OCR in your browser adds an invisible text layer so find, select and copy work.
LiveReorder, rotate and delete PDF pages from a thumbnail grid, with drag and keyboard controls. Runs in your browser.
LiveTurn each page of a PDF into a numbered JPG at your choice of DPI and quality — rendered entirely in your browser, zipped when there are several.
LiveConvert a PDF's text layer to Markdown — headings from type size, lists from markers, paragraphs from gaps — entirely in your browser.
LivePassword-protect a PDF with AES encryption and set print, copy and edit permissions — all in your browser.
LiveTrue redaction: pages with marked regions are rebuilt as images so covered text is removed, not hidden. Done in your browser.
LiveRemove pages like 2,4-6 from a PDF and keep the rest in order. Runs in your browser; removing every page is refused.
LiveRepair a structurally damaged PDF in your browser — broken cross-reference rebuilt, metadata kept, pages reported.
LiveRotate all pages or a chosen range by 90, 180 or 270 degrees, added to existing rotation. Runs in your browser.
LiveAssemble up to 10 scanned or photographed pages into one PDF, with per-page rotation and a document-cleaning enhancement — all in your browser.
LivePlace a drawn, typed or uploaded signature on a PDF page and flatten it into the page content — processed entirely in your browser.
LiveSplit one PDF by ranges, every N pages, or page by page. Multi-part results arrive as one ZIP, built in your browser.
LiveRemove password protection from a PDF you own — enter a password that opens it, get a clean unprotected copy.
LiveMake a multi-layer ICO, PNG set, manifest and HTML snippet from an image or letter mark.
LivePassport-size photos at 300 DPI with a multi-copy print sheet, from your own photo, on your device. Not an official document.
Live| Tool | Use it when you need to… |
|---|---|
| Image Optimizer | Resize, crop, compress and convert images in batches, with before-and-after file sizes. |
| PDF Toolkit | Merge, split, rotate, reorder and extract PDF pages with thumbnail previews. |
| Text and Document Comparison | Compare two texts or documents with side-by-side and inline diff views and a change summary. |

A practical order of operations: for images, resize to the largest size you will actually display before you compress — compression cannot recover layout space you did not need. For PDFs, do structural work (merge, reorder, extract) before anything else, because page order changes are the edits most likely to be redone. For document comparison, run the line-level diff first; drop to word or character level only when the line view shows changes you cannot interpret. All three tools show their limits on the page, so check them before assuming a missing feature is a bug.

Merge several PDFs into one file in the order you choose, or split one PDF by page range — in your browser, with no upload. Includes a tested merge/split example with measured page counts and file sizes, and an honest account of the password-protected case.
Compare two versions of a document and get an exact list of what was added, removed, and left alone. Covers line, word, and character modes — with a tested example showing how the same edit produces three different reports — plus a review workflow and the limits of text comparison.
No. The Image Optimizer, PDF Toolkit and Text Comparison all process files locally in your browser using libraries loaded with the page. Closing the tab discards everything.
The PDF Toolkit itself does not compress or OCR — it merges, splits, rotates, reorders and extracts pages. For those jobs the PDF suite on this site has dedicated tools: Compress PDF shrinks a document in your browser, and OCR PDF makes scanned pages searchable. Both are linked from the PDF Tools hub.
Up to 20 images at 25 MB each for the Image Optimizer, and 50 MB total for the PDF Toolkit. Limits are shown on each tool before you start, because very large files are limited by your device's memory, not by us.
