Z-Axis Rotation Calculator
How to use this tool
- Enter the point (x, y) and the rotation angle in degrees.
- Press Calculate — positive angles rotate counter-clockwise.
- Read the new point in the result box.
Worked example
Rotating (1, 0) by 90 degrees gives (0, 1), exactly as expected: the point on the x-axis moves onto the y-axis.
What this tool does not do / Limits
This rotates about the origin only, in the plane. It does not rotate about another centre (subtract the centre first), and it does not handle 3D rotations about the X or Y axes.
Frequently asked questions
What does a negative angle do?
It rotates clockwise by that amount: −90 degrees sends (1, 0) to (0, −1).
Does rotation change the distance from the origin?
No — rotation preserves distance, so (1, 0) stays one unit from the origin after any angle.
