Hallucination Claim Extractor

Important: this tool only extracts claims that can be checked. It does not detect hallucinations and does not verify whether any claim is true. Check every listed claim yourself against a reliable source.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the text you want to examine.
  2. Press Generate. Sentences containing numbers, dates or fact-type verbs are listed as checkable claims; the rest are listed as opinions or general statements.
  3. Use Load sample for a two-sentence example, then check the listed claim against a reliable source.

Worked example

For the text “The bridge opened in 1998 and cost $12 million. I love this bridge.” the tool lists 1 checkable claim (the bridge sentence, because it contains a year and a money figure) and 1 other statement (the opinion sentence).

What this tool does not do / Limits

This tool uses simple surface rules (numbers and fact-type verbs), so it can miss subtle claims and can flag a sentence that is actually an opinion. It never judges truth, and it cannot check claims against any source.

Frequently asked questions

Does this tool tell me if a claim is false?

No. It only separates claims that can be checked from other statements. Verifying truth is a manual step you do against a reliable source.

Why was a sentence not listed as a claim?

It contained no number, date or fact-type verb under the tool's simple rules. That does not mean the sentence is true or unimportant.
