XLSX Formula Inspector

How to use this tool

  1. For a guaranteed check, paste sheet XML (unzip a copy of the .xlsx and open xl/worksheets/sheet1.xml) into the box.
  2. Press Inspect to list every cell that contains a formula, with its stored value.
  3. Note: stored values are what the spreadsheet last calculated, not a fresh recalculation.

Worked example

Sheet XML with C2 containing formula A2+B2 and stored value 30 reports exactly 1 formula cell: C2, formula A2+B2, value 30.

What this tool does not do / Limits

Plain JavaScript only, no spreadsheet library: full .xlsx archive extraction (ZIP inflation, shared strings, multiple sheets, array and external formulas) is not completed in this build, so the reliable path is pasted sheet XML. It never recalculates formulas, never runs macros, and encrypted or password-protected files are not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Why paste XML instead of just uploading?

A full .xlsx reader needs ZIP and shared-string handling that this dependency-free build does not claim to do reliably; pasted sheet XML gives an exact, checkable result instead of a half-working upload.

Does it change my file?

No. It only reads what you paste or select; your original file is untouched.
