How to use this tool
- Enter the vendor name, a score out of 10 for each criterion, and the weight for each criterion.
- Press Generate. The tool weights the scores and shows the total out of 10 with a plain rating.
- Use Load sample for scores 8 / 9 / 7 / 10 at weights 30 / 30 / 20 / 20, or Clear to start again.
Worked example
For scores price 8, quality 9, delivery 7 and support 10 at weights 30%, 30%, 20% and 20%, the weighted score is (8 x 30 + 9 x 30 + 7 x 20 + 10 x 20) / 100 = 8.50 out of 10, rated Excellent.
What this tool does not do / Limits
Scores and weights are yours alone: the tool cannot judge a real vendor's quality, reliability or honesty. It is a comparison aid, not procurement advice, so verify references, samples and terms before choosing a supplier.
Frequently asked questions
Must the weights add up to 100?
No. If they do not, the tool divides by the actual weight total, so the result is still out of 10 — but weights that sum to 100 are easiest to read and compare.
What do the ratings mean?
8 and above is Excellent, 6 and above is Good, 4 and above is Fair, and below 4 is Weak. They are labels for the score, not a guarantee about the vendor.
