URL Parser

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a full URL, including its scheme (https:// and so on).
  2. Press Parse to split it into protocol, host, port, path, query pairs and fragment.
  3. Use Copy result to keep the breakdown.

Worked example

https://example.com:8080/path?q=1&lang=en#section parses to protocol https:, host example.com, port 8080, path /path, query q = 1 and lang = en, fragment section.

What this tool does not do / Limits

Only http, https and ftp URLs with a host are parsed. Relative URLs, mailto links, data URLs and internationalised domain names in raw Unicode form are not handled; percent-decoding failures fall back to the raw query text.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the port shown as default when I did not type one?

Because 443 for https and 80 for http are implied; the tool shows (default) instead of inventing a port number.

Does it fetch the URL?

No. It only reads the text you paste and never contacts the site.
