Signal-to-Noise Ratio Calculator
How to use this tool
- Enter the signal power and the noise power in the same units.
- Press Generate to see the power ratio and the SNR in decibels.
- A higher decibel value means a stronger signal relative to the noise.
Worked example
With signal power 100 and noise power 1, the ratio is 100 / 1 = 100, and SNR is 10 x log10(100) = 20.00 dB.
What this tool does not do / Limits
This uses the power-ratio formula 10 x log10(signal / noise). If you enter amplitudes instead of powers, the decibel formula differs, and the tool does not measure real signal or noise.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good SNR?
It depends on the system, but a higher value means the signal stands out more clearly from the noise.
Can I mix units?
No. Both powers must be in the same units, or the ratio is meaningless.
