Quartile Calculator
How to use this tool
- Enter your numbers separated by commas.
- Press Generate to see Q1, the median and Q3.
- Add more values to see the quartiles settle.
Worked example
For 10, 12, 12, 13, 14, 15, 100, the sorted list gives Q1 = 12, median = 13 and Q3 = 14.5.
What this tool does not do / Limits
Quartiles here use linear interpolation between sorted values, which is one common method; other methods can give slightly different quartiles. Small lists give unstable quartiles, so treat them as a summary, not a precise split.
Frequently asked questions
What is a quartile?
A value splitting sorted data into quarters: a quarter of values sit below Q1 and a quarter above Q3.
Is the median the same as Q2?
Yes: the median is the second quartile, the middle value of the sorted list.
