What this tool does not do / Limits
Detection is a simple pattern: a form of be followed by a word ending in ed or en. It can miss passives without be, such as The report, written yesterday, was late, and it can flag sentences that are not truly passive, so read each match yourself.
Frequently asked questions
Is every match really passive?
Not always. This is a pattern check, not grammar analysis, so judge each flagged phrase in context.
Does it catch every passive?
No. Passives without a form of be, or with words between be and the participle, are missed.
