Literature Review Matrix Builder

How to use this tool

  1. Enter one paper per line in the form Author | Year | Finding, then press Generate.
  2. Read the matrix table and copy it for your own review document.
  3. Use Load sample for two example papers.

Worked example

For the lines “Smith | 2020 | Gardens improve mood” and “Jones | 2022 | Balcony plants need less water”, the tool builds a 2-row table with Author, Year and Finding columns in that order.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This tool only formats the lines you enter into a table. It does not find papers, verify findings, or summarise research for you.

Frequently asked questions

What format must each line use?

Author, a pipe character, year, a pipe character, then the finding, for example: Smith | 2020 | Gardens improve mood.

What happens to a line without pipes?

It is listed as an unparsed line below the table, so nothing you typed is silently dropped.
