JSON Schema Validator

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the JSON document in the first box and its schema in the second.
  2. Click Run to see a pass message or a list of every error, each with its location.
  3. Load the sample to try a document that fails on purpose, then fix it and re-run.

Worked example

The sample document is {"name": "Ada", "age": -3} against a schema requiring age to be an integer of at least 0. The validator reports exactly one error: $.age: must be >= 0 — and name passes, so you know the rest of the document is fine.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This validator covers the commonly used JSON Schema keywords: type, required, properties, additionalProperties, items, min/max items and length, pattern, minimum/maximum, enum, const, allOf/anyOf/oneOf and simple formats (email, date, date-time). It does not fetch remote $ref targets, and it does not support if/then/else, patternProperties or contentEncoding. A pass here means the document matches this subset, not every possible dialect.

Frequently asked questions

Does a pass mean my document is valid everywhere?

It means it matches the schema under the keywords this tool checks, listed under Limits. If your schema relies on a keyword outside that list, check it separately.

Why do I get several errors for one bad value?

Each failed keyword is reported separately (for example a wrong type and a failed pattern), so you can fix everything in one pass instead of fixing one error at a time.
