Inventory Reorder Point Calculator

How to use this tool

  1. Enter average daily demand, supplier lead time in days and safety stock.
  2. Press Generate to see the reorder point.
  3. Use Load sample for demand 20, lead time 7 days and safety stock 50.

Worked example

With daily demand of 20, a lead time of 7 days and safety stock of 50, the reorder point is 20 x 7 + 50 = 190 units.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This tool is a general arithmetic aid and is not financial advice. It assumes steady demand and a fixed lead time; variable demand, seasonality and supplier delays change the right reorder point.

Frequently asked questions

What is the reorder point?

The stock level at which you should place a new order so new stock arrives before you run out.

What is safety stock for?

A buffer held against demand spikes or late deliveries, added on top of demand during lead time.
