iCloud Photos Storage Calculator

This calculator works only with the counts and averages you type in. It does not connect to, access or read any iCloud account or photo library.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter how many photos and videos you have and their average sizes in MB.
  2. Add your other storage in GB, and the size of your storage plan in GB.
  3. Calculate. You get the estimated total, how full the plan is, what remains, and roughly how many more photos would fit.

Worked example

Enter 2,000 photos at 4 MB each, 100 videos at 200 MB each, 5 GB of other storage, and a 50 GB plan. Photos use 8 GB, videos use 20 GB, and the total is 33 GB — 66% of the plan, with 17 GB remaining, room for about 4,250 more photos at 4 MB each.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This is an estimate from averages you supply (1 GB = 1,000 MB here). Real photos vary widely in size, and original-quality and optimised copies differ, so check a few real file sizes before trusting the total. It does not read your device or account.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find a realistic average photo size?

Pick ten photos, add their sizes, and divide by ten. Phone photos commonly fall between 2 MB and 6 MB, but that range is wide.

Does it count videos in the photo library?

Only if you include them in the video count. The tool cannot see your library, so anything you leave out is not counted.
