Hypothesis Test Selector
How to use this tool
- Choose your data type, groups and normality, then press Generate.
- Read the recommendation and its plain explanation.
- Use Load sample for two independent numeric groups with normal data.
Worked example
For two independent numeric groups with roughly normal data, the tool recommends the independent samples t-test, which compares the means of two separate groups.
What this tool does not do / Limits
This tool gives a starting recommendation from three answers only. It does not check your data, handle assumptions such as equal variance in detail, or replace statistical advice for a real study.
Frequently asked questions
What if my data is not normal?
The tool recommends a non-parametric alternative, such as the Mann-Whitney U test for two independent groups, which does not assume normality.
Does this tool run the test on my data?
No. It only selects a test name. You still need to run the test on your data in a statistics tool.
