Docker Compose Visualizer

JSON Compose files are fully supported. For YAML, only this shape is supported: services, then two-space indented service names, then keys such as image, ports and depends_on lists. Anchors, multi-line blocks and deeper nesting are not parsed.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a Compose file as JSON or in the simple YAML shape described above.
  2. Press Visualize to see each service with its image, ports and dependencies.
  3. Use Load sample for a web service depending on a db service.

Worked example

The sample has services web (image nginx, depends_on db) and db (image postgres). The visualizer lists 2 services and states plainly that web depends on db, while db depends on nothing. The JSON form of the same file gives the identical listing.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This is a reader for a small YAML subset, not a full YAML parser: anchors, aliases, multi-line strings, inline maps and nesting deeper than service keys are not supported and are reported as unparsed lines rather than silently guessed. It never runs containers or contacts any registry.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my YAML show unparsed lines?

Because it uses a YAML feature outside the supported subset. Convert the file to JSON, which this page reads fully, and paste that instead.

Does this start my containers?

No. It only reads the file you paste and lists what it declares.
