CPM, CPC and CPA Calculator

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your total cost, impressions, clicks and conversions for the same period and campaign.
  2. Press Generate. CPM, CPC, CPA and click-through rate are calculated from those four numbers.
  3. Compare campaigns by running the same inputs for each one separately.

Worked example

With cost 200, impressions 50,000, clicks 1,000 and conversions 50: CPM is 200 / 50,000 x 1,000 = 4.00, CPC is 200 / 1,000 = 0.20, CPA is 200 / 50 = 4.00, and click-through rate is 1,000 / 50,000 = 2%.

What this tool does not do / Limits

These are cost ratios only: they say nothing about profit, because they ignore revenue per conversion, refunds and costs outside the ad spend you enter. Any metric whose denominator is zero is shown as not available rather than invented.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between CPC and CPA?

CPC divides cost by clicks; CPA divides cost by conversions. CPC measures traffic cost, CPA measures result cost.

Why is CPM per thousand?

CPM stands for cost per mille, where mille means thousand. It is cost divided by impressions, multiplied by 1,000, so campaigns of different sizes can be compared.
