A Record Lookup

How to use this tool

  1. Paste one A record line.
  2. Press Generate to check its format.
  3. Use Load sample, Copy result or Clear as needed.

Worked example

The record example.com. 3600 IN A 93.184.216.34 is a valid format: a name, a TTL of 3600, class IN, type A, and a valid IPv4 address.

What this tool does not do / Limits

This tool does not perform a live DNS lookup and does not contact any name server. It only checks the format of text you paste, and a well-formed record may still be outdated or unregistered.

Frequently asked questions

What makes an A record valid here?

A name, an optional TTL, class IN, type A, and an IPv4 address with four octets from 0 to 255.

Can it confirm the record is live?

No. Only a real DNS query can do that, and this tool deliberately does not make one.
